Mai Chau - Traditional Northern Village
We arrived at Mai Chau at nightfall and stayed in a Vietnamese family's guest house
After dinner some local village youths performed some traditional music and dances
The bamboo stick dance was fun. The people holding the sticks would bounce them up and down on each beat, and the slap them together on the fourth beat. You don't want to have your foot in between two sticks on the fourth beat!
The girls made it look easy, but when Pascal and I tried it we got whacked a number of times!
The next morning we explore the village of Mai Chau. We slept in the house in the back, with the closed shutters.
Our accomodations for the evening after the dancers leave
Pascal climbs to our room on the left
Note the guns on the left leaning against the stilt
We leave Mai Chau behind, down in the valley, and commence our last half-day leg to Hanoi
